Academics
At the secondary level at East Rankin Academy, we are dedicated to the development of well-rounded students. As a college preparatory school, we are continually striving for excellence in academics and offer a course of study designed to enable all students to satisfy the admission requirements for post-secondary studies at the college or university level.
For several years, our academic quiz bowl teams have won the Mississippi Regional Science Bowl and the Mississippi State History Bowl Championship to earn students the opportunity to compete at the national level in Washington D.C. Our academic quiz bowl team has won the overall MAIS Academic Quiz Bowl Tournament, the Old Capitol Government Bowl Tournament, and finished first place in the team competition of the Mississippi College Science and Mathematics Tournament. Students are recognized for their academic accomplishments with induction into the ERA chapter of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and ACT Academic Team. Our school’s ACT average is well above both the state and national average and each year we honor multiple students for their outstanding ACT scores with inclusion in our “ACT 30 and Above Team.” We currently have two seniors with an ACT score of 36 and 20% of the senior class has a 30 or above on their ACT! East Rankin Academy graduates are offered thousands of dollars in academic scholarships, providing them many opportunities after graduation.
