History of East Rankin

East Rankin Academy was chartered by the state in 1969. Classes for grades 1-6 were begun in January, 1970. The junior high was added in 1970-71. One grade was added each year until East Rankin graduated its first class in May, 1974. A kindergarten was added to the school in 1975. A preschool was added in 2003.

Today, property and facilities include 31 classrooms, two libraries, two science labs, two computer labs, preschool center, artroom, choir room, dining hall, activities building, two gymnasiums, football stadium, fieldhouse, weight room, baseball field, softball field, soccer field, four tennis courts, and playgrounds.

East Rankin Academy is accredited by the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) and AdvancED and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools (ACSI). It is governed by a Board of Trustees who prayerfully commit their time, talent, and treasure to help the school fulfill its mission to train each child spiritually, academically, physically, and socially with the help of a college-preparatory curriculum, extra-curricular activities, and the united efforts of parents and teachers under the leadership of God.

East Rankin offers primarily a college-preparatory curriculum with a Christian perspective. The student body is made up of students from Leake, Rankin, Smith, and Scott counties.
